Air Purifier use in Large Rooms
Is it best to use one air purifier on turbo speed to clean a very large space or is it better to have multiple units? Let's examine the options by considering some examples using the popular Allerair line which we carry. The Allerair line includes air purifier models shown on our site which clean up to 1800 square feet, and some that we don't have on the site, but which are available by phone.
Allerair makes the 8000 Series which has specifications of cleaning capability up to 2000 square feet. In a large room of 2000 square feet, is it more advantageous and cost effective to have one 8000 Series air purifier which can clean the entire area, or is it better to have two 4000 Series models (which clean 1200 square feet each), placed on either end of the large room?
In the case of a large, rectangular office space, for example, that is 50 feet long and 40 feet wide, one air purifier placed at the end of the room, has to pull air from 50 feet away. That's a very long distance and would require the cleaner be run at the highest speed most of the time to pull in the air from the other end of the room. That would make the actual air they breathe cleaner for the people on the end of the room with the air purifier, but they would also experience more noise. It would be quiet on the other end, but not as clean. Of course, the system could be placed in the middle of the room but the people on either ends of the room wouldn't have as much clean air, and those in the middle would experience more sound.
ClearFlite believes it makes more sense from a cleaning standpoint, and from a sound standpoint to use two models of air purifier in a rectangular room over 2000 square feet, rather than one air purifier.
In the case of a large square room of 2000 square feet or more, an air purifier that covers 2000 square feet such as an Allerair 8000 Series model could indeed clean the entire area. However, it might be a bit loud for people situated in the middle of the room working near the air purifier. In this case as well, we believe it makes more sense to choose two 4000 Series Allerair purifiers and place them in opposite corners.
In large spaces, a lot depends on the arrangement of people working in the area. If the large space is a commercial area where people work in one end and machines occupy the opposite end of the room, then it might be fine to have one air purifier such as the Allerair 8000 Series for a 2000 square foot area. From a sound perspective, it makes sense to use multiple air purifier units placed so that they can still adequately clean the space but not be too loud for the closest inhabitants.
In a very large space of 3000 square feet for example, it would make sense to use two of the Allerair 8000 Series air purifier models on either end of the room or in opposite corners. You would have 4000 square feet of cleaning power (because each air purifier cleans 2000 square feet) but you could run them at lower, thus less noisy speeds.
What is the cost difference between one air purifier that can clean 2000 square feet such as the Allerair 8000, and two 4000 Series air purifier models (which combined would clean 2400)?
One Allerair 8000 Exec is $999.98
Two Allerair 4000 Execs are $879.96 (they are $439.98 each)
Please note, we do not have the Allerair 8000 Series on our website at this time, but you can order them by phone at (800) 497-8263. Our sales representatives will also be able to discuss other strategies for your very large spaces.
