Air Purifier Systems Quality Issues

ClearFlite has been selling air purifier products for over a decade and has evaluated and tested many models. The various manufacturers approach production from different perspectives. Some companies manufacture only air purifier (the machine and the filters). For others, the manufacture of an air purifier is an extension from their primary product line which may be air conditioners, for example. Some American companies import air purifier products made in other countries and add them to their lines of home appliance products. Some companies specialize in designing and producing filters for a wide variety of air treatment companies. There are also companies which specialize in industrial air treatment who develop a home or small business air purifier as a secondary product.

In selecting the air purifier products that we sell, we consider the manufacturer or importer, as well as the actual products. Every product is only as good as the company that stands behind it. We try to select manufacturers who are primarily focused on research, design, and production of portable room air purifiers and/or filters for them. Sometimes the larger companies who sell air purifier products as only one of their many products excel at after sale support, but generally we find that the air purifier only companies provide better support to ClearFlite as a dealer and thus to our customers. So the company behind the product is the first issue in terms of quality.

Another important issue in quality is the longevity of both the air purifier machine itself and of the filters it uses. From an environmental standpoint, we all want our small appliances to last as long as possible so we don't keep throwing them out and having to buy more. ClearFlite believes air purifiers should last many years, and generally the products we sell do, if they are maintained and the filters changed at appropriate times. The air purifier cabinet, whether steel, or injection molded plastic should be rugged enough to move from room to room, and should be constructed so that as it is opened and closed for cleaning or filter changes, it will remain tight and close correctly.

For air purifier products with electronic monitors or other devices, the air purifier should have high quality, non-temperamental, easy-to-use controls. Unless the system of monitors in an air purifier is very high quality, the unit will not last under normal wear and tear, and we believe it should last for years. Air purifies without electronic monitors have less to fail, and sometimes are more appropriate for environments where the air purifier is not going to get a lot of attention or maintenance.

Of course, the design and manufacture of the filters themselves is of utmost importance in quality. High grades of HEPA paper should be used in HEPA filters, carbon and carbon blends should be made of high quality carbon. If the air purifier doesn't do remove the indoor air pollution that it purports to remove, the fault may be in the filters themselves. ClearFlite works hard to select air purifier filters that are well constructed, meet the specifications they say they will meet, and last as long as possible.
