The A375UV Multi Gas HEPA room air purifier is truly a multiple purpose device, thus its very long name! It removes a wide variety of airborne contaminants in a medium size room up to 400 square feet (it can clean up to 800 square feet, but is most effective at 400). Multiple filtration technologies are incorporated in this air purifier to remove the bacteria, odor, dust, and pollen that irritate allergy and asthma sufferers, but also to remove some VOC's which science is revealing are more prevalent in our homes than previously thought.

An integrated Prefilter-HEPA filter-Carbon filter provide the filtering technology for particles and odors, and photo catalytic oxidation with ultraviolet light provides the technology for reducing VOC's which are emitted from paint, carpeting, wood products, computer printers, aerosols etc. The two UV lights also remove bacteria. An internal ionizer makes the HEPA filter more efficient without producing ozone.

Filter indicators tell the owner when to change the integrated filter. The A375UV Multi Gas HEPA air purifier is attractively designed and can be wall-mounted. It has four speeds, a timer, and a remote control.

Alternative Filters for Enhanced Use

The air purifier comes standard with the integrated filter described above. This filter can be replaced by one of the following for enhanced odor or smoke removal: The BF25A MCP Smoke Odor Filter has a Pre-filter and a HEPA filter, but is also includes a concentrated powder which uses a molecular conversion process to change smoke and odors so they are removed on contact as the air passes through the air purifier. The second alternative filter is the Gas-MP MCP Max Odor Filter which contains an all in one washable Pre-filter, activated carbon pellets, and MCP odor powder. It contains twice the carbon and is very effective at removing odors.

Who needs one:

The A375UV HEPA is a well made air purifier which provides a lot of filtration for the dollar. It falls into the medium range of air purifiers. It would benefit any person by providing an all-around cleaner environment. It will help allergy and asthma sufferers, and people sensitive to off-gassing from household products. The activated carbon contained in the standard filter is minimal so it won't absorb all odors. However, two alternative filters are available (see above) which can capture smoke and odors.

How does it work:

This air purifier uses standard HEPA filtration which filters 99.97% of particles down to 0.3 microns, an activated carbon mat, ultraviolet light and a titanium dioxide grid (to carry out photo catalytic oxidation) to clean the air. The dirty air enters the unit from the front and clean air is exhausted through the top of the unit.

Our rating:

The manufacturer has worked hard to provide a lot of filtration in this multi-purpose model and still make it affordable. It will certainly clean the air and is quiet and attractive. The filter will require changing in six to nine months, although the UV light will last a long time. It is a good mid-range product as far as removing VOC's.
