The Blueair HEPASilent filter is a combination of different types of filter media. This combination of different types of materials is what makes the filter so efficient and able to clean air successfully. The filter contains an ion particle charging chamber, which achieves these amazing results. The HEPASilent filter also contains a polypropylene filter. The filter is non-toxic and polypropylene is one of the most environmentally friendly materials that can be used for a filter because it doesn't shred fibers into the air while catching particles. The HEPASilent filter is the best choice of filter for the environment because when the filters are disposed of, they are able to decompose in the environment. When decomposed, the filters simply turn into carbon dioxide and water, which are both materials harmless to the environment. Polypropylene is also a chemical that is waterproof. By catching more charged particles, this type of filter is proven more effective and efficient than any other filter on the market.

Other filters use the same technology of charging particles so they will stick better to the filter. However, these other filters end up changing the charge of the actual filter media and not the particles in the air. By charging the filter, it is sure to wear out fast and soon need to be replaced. The regular HEPA filters that change their own charge are more likely to be less effective and have a shorter life than the HEPASilent filter.
