The air is released through the top of the air purifier to prevent the settling of particles on the machine.

The second category of air purifiers that is produced by Hunter is the HEPAtech air purifiers. The HEPATech system also uses a HEPA filter as its main source of particle removal. The air is taken into the air purifiers with the same quiet fan and is first passed through the pre filter. The pre filter is able to capture any large particles that may be present in the air such as pet hair or dirt. This pre filter is also easily removable and washable which is convenient for the air purifier's owner. By removing the large particles first, the pre filter also helps the HEPA filter to last longer. The HEPA filter is next in line to receive the air and only has to remove the smaller particles that the pre filter did not eliminate. The HEPA filter that is present in the HEPAtech systems are Permanently Charged Electret filters. Some air purifiers in this category may also include an ionizer on their system. The ionizer will release negative ions into the room. These ions' goal is to freshen up the air in the room and enhance the cleaning process.
