Operating Friedrich C90B Air
Purifiers
The operations of the Friedrich C90B air purifiers are quite simple. The system
is a self contained console that consists of a high voltage DC power supply, an
electron cell, a three speed fan, and two filters; the pre filter and an
activated carbon post filter. All of this is contained in a strong plastic
cabinet.
The system is specifically designed to remove indoor pollutions such as tobacco
smoke, airborne bacteria, dust, pollen, pet dander, and billions of other
contaminants that are in the air within all in a matter of minutes; leaving you
with results you can breathe and feel.
There are a few cautions that you should not before you begin to operate these
air purifiers. You should always carry the system by its handle indentations on
the side panels or carry it by its base. The top is very unsteady as it can be
removed so that the filter can be serviced. Be sure to remove any and all
plastic from the activated carbon filter. The carbon filter label should be
facing outward; if it isn't the filter is installed improperly. You must make
certain that the electronic cell is placed properly in the cabinet; the air flow
on the end of the electronic plate must be pointing toward the fan. If it isn't
facing the right direction, the system will not run properly. Be sure to put the
cover securely back in place before turning on the air purifiers.
Do not place this system in any area where the may be or are potential gas vapors
or water may be present. Do not cut the three prong power cord that is included
with this system. It is a grounded plug that is designed to protect you from shock
related hazards and it should only be plugged into the proper three plug
grounded receptacle.
Controls of the Friedrich C90B air purifying system are very basic. All of the
controls are located on the top of the system. They all can be assessed by an
opening in the top cover. The controls are as follows: • Off • HI •
Med • Low
In extreme conditions such as a lot of tobacco smoke or stale air, this system can
be used to clean rapidly, the high setting for the fan is used. In most cases
this is used if there are a lot of smokers in the room, or if a large area needs
to have the air circulated in order to maintain a crisp clean breathing
environment. The medium and low setting on the system can be set to maintain air
circulation and have clean crisp air all of the time.
There is a light that lets you know when the air purifier is on and working as
it should be. When the system first starts up the light indicator may flicker on
and off, but this is nothing that should worry you. It is considered normal. The
only need for you to start troubleshooting is if the light fails to come on at
all. In that case you should refer to the basic operating in troubleshooting in
the user's manual.
A snapping sound can be heard when the system first is started. This is a normal
sound and the system may keep making these sounds throughout the first few days of
use. After the first few days have passed you may still hear an occasional snap
sound, this simply is just indicating that the system is cleaning the air. Once
the electronic cell becomes dirtier from use, the snapping sounds will be heard
more frequently. All you have to do is simply wash the cell and make sure that
it is completely dry before placing back into the system.
Location, location, location
Location is everything when using air purifiers. A great choice of location for
this system would be near the closest form of contamination. For example, if
tobacco smoke is an issue in the room that the system will be purifying, then you
should place it as close to the area with the tobacco smoke as possible. When
you are positioning the system, be sure not to block the intake and discharge
grilles. Blocking these grilles can cause the system to fail to work properly. The
intake grille should not be placed any closer than eight inches from the wall.
Be sure to provide an unobstructed path for the discharge air. The system will be
more effective, the further the discharge air travels. If you are placing the
system in a room that also has an open door way, it is best to position it near
the opening and direct the air flow into the adjacent room. This will promote
good air circulation throughout.
Hotel rooms, hospitals, medical offices, beauty salons, employee lounges,
restaurants, homes, photo labs, sports facilities, pet shops, schools,
conference rooms are all ideal locations for the Friedrich C90B. If you have a
fireplace or a wood stove, you should definitely place one of the units in the
same room with it. This will help to protect you from breathing in all of the
soot that is given off by fireplaces and wood stoves |
