The GC AM indoor air purifiers are designed to address very specific removal of amines, ammonia, ammonia-derived particulates and odors. The particulate filtration efficiency is 97% at .3 microns so it does not completely address the needs of allergy and asthma sufferers but rather handles ammonia compounds for specific MCS (Multiple Chemical Sensitivity) needs. The filter system of the IQ GC AM product consists of the standard pre filter but the upper module contains four filter cartridges that contain gas phase media. These IQAir filter cartridges are reusable and contain 12 pounds of the media. These are near silent indoor systems due to the advanced Swiss technology.

These IQAir air purifiers have a 900 foot coverage with 99% efficiency at 0.3 microns ranging down to 95% for smaller particles. It requires an 115VAC 50-60Hz power supply and will consume a maximum of 215W power and only 3W on standby. It comes complete with a 6 foot power cable; the whole unit measuring 28 inches high by 15 inches wide by 16 inches deep and weighs 51lbs. You also get a one year warranty on the unit and fan motor but not the filters.
There are 7 housing modules that are made of durable light grey/blue ABS. It has two side opening air inlets on the base and the air is pumped out through a diffuser with horizontal opening, which is at the top of the unit.
The centrifugal fan is backward curved and has a single inlet. The steel ball bearings mean it is maintenance free and long lasting. Voltage reduction is available through capacitor switching. The fan has 6 variable speeds of air delivery that range from 35 to 235cfm.
This unit has 98% efficiency at 0.3 microns and these filters should usually last 6-18 months depending on usage and conditions. There is 1 replacement pre filter. These come in the form of disposable cylinders with 4 replacement gas cartridges. Each has an estimated life of 6-12 months on average. It has four replacement filter sleeves with an efficiency of 98% at 0.3 microns and an estimated life of 2-3 years.
The polyester overlay panel is a 16 character by 2 line LCD display that is very clear to read. You can select from 5 languages (English, French, German, Italian and Spanish). The unit has a fan speed indicator, filter life status and timer status that are all LED displays.
