The IQAir GC Chemisorber indoor air purifiers are designed to address very specific removal of Formaldehyde and chemicals in that family. The particulate filtration efficiency is 97% at .3 microns so it does not completely address the needs of allergy and asthma sufferers but rather handles ammonia compounds for specific MCS (Multiple Chemical Sensitivity) needs. The filter system in IQAir GC Chemisorber air purifiers consists of the standard pre filter but the upper module contains four filter cartridges that contain gas phase media. These filter cartridges are reusable and contain 12 pounds of the media. These are near silent indoor sytstems due to the advanced Swiss technology. The GC Chemisorber is one of the advanced air purifying air purifiers. This unit is for places that have a high amount of chemicals such as formaldehyde, sulfur dioxide, hydrogen sulfide, and particulates. The IQAir GC Chemisorber includes sleeves, pre filter, a remote control, a six foot detachable power cord, owners manual, cartridges, and a certificate to guarantee its performance.
The Chemisorber has five different fan speeds. The air flow varies depending on which speed you set the fan on. For speed one it is 40 cfm, speed two is 60 cfm, speed three is 90 cfm, speed four is 140 cfm, and speed five is 270 cfm. The maximum coverage area depending on the maximum fan speed is 1200 square feet. The efficiency of the system is 99% at 0.3 microns and for particles that are much smaller it is 95%.
The maximum energy consumption on this unit is 195 watts, and the stand by consumption is 2.5 watts. The power requirements are as follows; 115 VAC 50-60 Hz. The IQAir GC Chemisorber weighs in at 80 pounds. It includes a one year warranty on the unit and the fan motor. This doesn't include the filters.
The filters have three different stages; gas adsorption, particle pre filtration, and particle post filtration. It has a total of nine replacement filters. The first one is one HEPA type pre filter, and then there are four gas cartridges, and four post filter sleeves. The particle pre filter is a mini pleat HEPA filter that is efficient at 98% at 0.3 microns.
The gas phase filters out about 18 – 25 pounds. The cartridge design is made of synthetic cylinders that are disposable. The filter life on the pre filter is 6 to 18 months depending on how much particle intake it has taken in. The sleeves have a life of about 2 to 3 years, and the cartridges have a life of about 3 years, also depending on the environment that the unit is placed in.
All in all this is a great unit to place in areas where there are a lot of chemical odors that can be breathed.
