IQAir did not take the creation of the Perfect 16 lightly. Exhaustive research and development, and a deep understanding of the weaknesses of other whole house units on the market, resulted in an ingeniously simple, yet powerfully effective product that can create an extraordinarily clean home environment.

The MERV rating system, which gives the IQAir whole house unit its highest rating, a feat which no other whole house units have accomplished, is a legitimate rating system used by the American Society of Heating and Refrigeration Engineers. The MERV 16 certification is the highest efficiency rating for any HVAC filter.

The IQAir Perfect 16 Micro-Fiber filter traps over 95% of harmful particles each time the air passes through the filter. This translates to a minimum 90% rate of clean air at the site of the register where the air comes into the room. IQAir actually offers the world’s first installed performance guarantee. The installer, using a laser particle counter, will make sure the air in the home is a minimum of 90% cleaner by measuring the particles before and after the installation of the system. Although the idea of having a system installed in your home may be a little daunting, keep in mind that the Perfect 16 is a non-motorized system that does not require electrical hook-ups. More importantly, IQAir and ClearFlite will completely handle the installation process.

The efficiency of your HVAC system won’t be reduced at all because IQAir’s double V filtration design has a very low pressure drop. Best of all, the filter lasts three years, substantially longer than others on the market. The system produces absolutely no ozone.

Who needs a Perfect 16 Whole House Air Purifier: anyone would benefit greatly from living in a house where allergens, bacteria, dust, and smoke were removed throughout the home on a daily basis. For allergy and asthma sufferers, the advantage could be huge. The home must have forced air heating or cooling, or both.

How the system works: Air is drawn through the return grille (usually located in a hallway or common area) and filtered through the Perfect 16’s 170 square feet of pleated filtration panels. It then moves through the central air handling unit where the air is distributed throughout the home. The fan in the air handling system must be running, but neither heating nor cooling need to be on. The air in a typical home would be filtered up to 125 times every day with this system.

On-site pre-installation evaluation: The installer scheduled by IQAir will perform an on-site pre-installation evaluation to determine whether the Perfect 16 is compatible with your air handling system. Two sizes are available. One is for a 2 to 3 ton air handling system, one for a 4 to 5 ton system.

Our rating: IQAir has done an extraordinary job, not only in creating an excellent whole house system, but also in creating a process to manage the entire process which makes it easy for the homeowner. The long lasting filter is also a critical component, because the reality of most competing systems is that the filters need to be changed much more often, but people don’t do it, so they don’t really work. The Perfect 16 captures particles, however, it doesn’t remove chemicals and gases. For those, a room air purifier, such as the IQAir HealthPro Plus is appropriate.
