Trion Air Purifiers for Particulate Removal - Free Delivery

We are an authorized US distributor of Trion air purifier electrostatic air cleaners.   These air purifiers use the same technology as the large whole-house electrostatic air cleaners.  Electrostatic technology used in the Trion air purifiers is very effective at removing particles from the air.  Since the systems use an electrostatic charge to remove the particles it is very effective on small particles like smoke as well as larger particles like pollen. 

Who needs these systems: The tabletop units are small and thus convenient to locate near the source of particulates.  A good example is in a nail salon the Trion can be located close to where the nail grinding is occurring and are very effective at sucking up the nail dust. The console model is wonderful for larger rooms where dust, pollen, or mold spores are a problem.
How they work: The Trion units use a set of charged plates to remove particles from the air.  The first set of plates charges the particles and the second set attracts the charged particles (see the picture to the right).  Another benefit of this technology is that the filters are washable so the cost of ownership is very low.
Our Rating: The Trion units are great for removing particulates in a small area.  So, nail salons, small bedrooms and mudrooms are good applications.  They are not effective at removing chemicals and thus odors.  For these issues and larger rooms a quality HEPA air purifier loaded with activated carbon is the ticket.

Trion TCE3002A Console Air Purifiers

Trion Console Electronic Air Purifiers are now available from ClearFlite bringing a new affordability to indoor air cleaning. Some of the quality electrostatic air purifiers that are widely advertised and touted in consumer review magazines do work well in eliminating dust and particles from the air, but are more expensive than we think necessary.

The Trion Console uses electro-statically charged plates as its primary filtration, and the plates are washable. A metal mesh pre-filter (also washable) catches the largest pieces of dust and particulate, and an activated carbon post-filter removes some gases and odors before the clean air is released. However, the amount of activated carbon is small compared to some of the HEPA/activated carbon models we sell, so the Trion is not superior at removing odors and gases.

ClearFlite continues to recommend HEPA air purifiers for asthmatics and allergenics, and air purifiers with chemical removal features for people with MCS (multiple chemical sensitivity), however, if you're in a dust-laden office, have dusty pets, or live in an area prone to dust, the Trion is a great way to keep the dust down without having to buy replacement filters.

In order to pull that heavy dust out of the air and into the air purifier, it is often necessary to run the air purifier on the highest speed so it can really work. On many electro-static units, the motor on high makes a whining sound which is irritating. You can certainly hear the fan running when the Trion Console is on high, but it is a soft blowing sound without a high pitch. That's one of the reasons ClearFlite likes it a lot.

Specified to clean 340 square feet (17 x 20 foot room), the Trion Console is a good unit for an office, a bedroom, or a medium-sized living room. In a small office or child's bedroom that is only 150 square feet, it will deep-clean the room with six air changes per hour. In a medium-sized room from 300 to 400 square feet, it will give you two to three air changes per hour.

Cleaning the electronic plates is easy – you just soak them in a sink or tub in hot, soapy water for about half an hour. They cannot be placed in the dishwasher. If you need a totally maintenance free air purifier, choose a HEPA model where you don't have to wash anything. The frequency with which you'll need to wash the plates depends on how dusty your environment is, but generally it's at least once a month. The activated carbon filter has to be changed, it cannot be washed. It is easy to remove and reinstall the filters.

The design of the Trion Console is more aesthetically pleasing than other models ClearFlite has tested. Its an upright (28.5 inches tall) unit and only 12 inches wide. Its almond-color is pleasant and unobtrusive. So with its pleasant design, low, un-irritating noise level, ability to remove dust and particles, washable main filter, and low cost, ClearFlite believes the Trion Console is a good buy.
