Although odors or chemicals in the air may be a
problem for some homeowners, an air purifier may not be a solution they have
considered. Most people have preconceived notions that an air purifier will be
loud, large in size or unattractive. Many manufacturers hire a talented design
team to ensure the models will be as small as possible and look attractive. They
also use the most advanced technology to produce an air purifier that is quiet
while running. Most air purifier manufacturers keep in mind the standards and
important factors a consumer will look at when purchasing a unit. The companies
try to cater to the needs of a consumer while not compromising on the
effectiveness and efficiency of their models.
Mrs. Carpenter from Mitchell, South Dakota was a consumer who was convinced an
air purifier would be too clunky and big for her air quality problem. Her
husband works on a farm all day and when he comes home, he throws off his muddy
boots and coat into a heap on the floor of the mudroom. Mrs. Carpenter does what
she can to clean the coat each day but she knows it’s pointless to try and
salvage his muddy boots. Since Mr. Carpenter will just be going back to the same
muddy work environment the next day, his boots are left in the mudroom. Mrs.
Carpenter doesn’t mind leaving the boots there because she’d rather them be in
the mudroom than in another part of the house. However, she started to notice
the odors from the mud on the boots and the odors were soon creeping into other
parts of the home.
When Mrs. Carpenters was making dinner in the kitchen and began to get a whiff
of the muddy boots, she knew she had to do something. Although she was sure an
air purifier would be too big for the space in the mudroom, she researched a few
products online. Mrs. Carpenter realized the air purifying industry was more
advanced than she thought and there was a variety of products for many
situations. She chose the Austin Air HealthMate Jr. Plus for the mudroom because
of its compact size. The air purifier is equipped with a HEPA filter to absorb
particles and chemicals from the air. It also contains media that is designed
for adsorption of odors in the air. Six pounds of potassium iodine and activated
carbon-zeolite mixture make this air purifier effective at eliminating the
chemicals that cause odors to be released. The unit also caught Mrs. Carpenter’s
eye because it can clean a room up to 700 square feet in size. The air purifier
would be able to catch the odors in the mudroom before they had a chance to
circulate into other rooms of the home.
The Carpenters are pleased with the purchase of their air purifier. They found
the Healthmate Jr. Plus to be proficient in the removal of the odors from the
mudroom. Although the unit was small enough in size to sit in the mudroom
without being in the way, it is still powerful enough to remove the chemicals
and odors from the area. The Carpenters found the unit easy to use and
convenient in size. Mrs. Carpenter doesn’t have to worry about smelling her
husband’s muddy shoes from the kitchen again thanks to the help of the air
purifier.
