ClearFlite Air Purifiers -
FAQ
Question: How do I
select the best unit for my air quality needs?
First, think about the problem you are trying to solve. Different air purifiers
have different strengths. Some are better at getting particulate, some are
better at getting chemicals, some do better with mold, etc.. If you wake up
congested in the mornings and feel you need an air purifier for your bedroom,
you'll look at a smaller general purpose unit like the Austin Junior. If your
children have allergies and your family room is full of pets, you'll want
something like an IQAir. If your home office feels unhealthy, you might want a
quiet Blueair. So first determine what your application is. Our sales reps will
be happy to help you think it through. Call us at 800-497-8263 for application
help. It is also important that you select an air purifier designed to
clean the size room you have. If you have a very large or open room, it might be
more effective to place two or three of the small room air cleaners in different
parts of the room. We recommend a unit for the family room or place where you
spend most of your day, and a unit for the bedroom. Your willingness to maintain
the unit is also an important consideration. If you're retired and have the time
to wash the filters, consider a Friedrich. If you're super busy and want to turn
the air purifier on and not think about it for a year, try one of our HEPA air
purifiers.
Question: What is your return policy?
We have a normal 30 day return policy. You may return the unit for a
refund within 30 days of the purchase. Please call ahead for an
authorization number and the address for return shipping.
Question: How do I get
manuals and brochures?
The information that we provide on our web pages is as accurate as
we can make it. Call us if you need more help. We are
collecting the manuals and brochures that are made available by the
manufacturers in Adobe PDF format on a special page Click Here for brochures and manuals.
Question: What is the warranty from ClearFlite
home
Air Purifiers?
First, we work very hard to make you a happy customer! The warranty for
each manufacturer is listed on the home page. Most, except for the Friedrich
model, have multiple year warranties. We do not sell any low quality products,
so you may expect years of service from those we do sell. If the unit arrives
damaged, we will have it picked up and a new one shipped immediately. Call
anytime you need help. We want to keep you as a customer for life, so we will
help you.
Question:
Why do you only carry air purifiers?
Although there are other products that do help with allergies,
ClearFlite has chosen to specialize in room air purifiers because
they are the one item that indisputably helps people with
respiratory challenges. We know because we have sold thousands over
the past nine years. We have customers with multiple chemical
sensitivity who have them in every room; we have grandparents who
have saved their grandchildren from having to have surgery after
putting air purifiers in the kid's rooms, we have hundreds of
customers in New York living in the Ground Zero area whom we helped
to breathe after the toxicity unleashed into the air on 9/11.
Question:
What is HEPA?
The HEPA filter component in these products is essentially an accordion of very fine
paper-like filter material. The material is loaded in an accordion or zig-zag manner so
that a very large surface area is available for air to be pushed through by the fan. Over
time (typically three to five years) the filter will plug and the airflow will no longer be able to
move through the filter. You can detect this by either noticing the reduced air flow or
the reduced efficiency of the filter. Click the Technology tab for more
information.
Question: Do your indoor air purifiers have anything to do with ozone
O3 or
"active air"?
No, most of the units we carry do not generate measurable amounts of Ozone.
The Friedrich C90B generates very low measurable levels. During a 24 hour test
conducted by Underwriters Laboratories (UL), the highest level measured was a
miniscule .033 parts per million (PPM).
Question: Is it true that when a
HEPA filter gets full,
the particles can get blown back into the room?
With a unit from ClearFlite Air Purifiers the answer is absolutely no. When the
HEPA filter gets full, the particles are tightly compressed into the filter.
The filter simply stops trapping any more particles. For the particles to blow out, the
airflow design of the unit would have to magically reverse itself, which is impossible.
Question: Are your
office or home air purifiers helpful in removing
odor from cigars and cigarettes?
Yes, they help with cigarette smoke but cigars are tough to keep up with because
of the amount of smoke they produce. The HEPA filter traps the particulates, and
activated carbon absorbs the chemical compounds which cause the odor. TIP! wash
the light bulbs in a smoker's rooms once a month. The smoke adheres to the hot
bulb and every time the light goes on and heats up it outgasses the smoking
smell.
